What we are providing?

DriveRightData is at the forefront of addressing the issue of tyre emissions, providing the tyre industry and retailers with data to help consumers make informed choices about tyre wear for their vehicle. This gives retailers the ability to understand the environmental impact of a replacement tyre and how this changes when fitted to a particular vehicle.  An invaluable tool for the whole market, it provides key information to allow an informed tyre replacement choice.

Despite the transition towards electric vehicles, tyre wear remains a significant source of air and water pollution. Millions of tonnes of tyre particles are released into the environment annually, containing a cocktail of toxic chemicals that can harm both human health and ecosystems.

Heavier vehicles can cause

increased tyre wear.

Each tyre has an individual toxicity composition.

Tyre wear occurs at different rates dependant on the vehicle.

Tyre wear particle size changes dependant on the tyre composition.

How have we created a robust tyre emissions rating system?

DriveRightData have exclusively partnered with emissions experts to develop comprehensive data, analytics and a whole new tyre wear ratings system that provides detailed insights into the environmental performance of tyres. The new data includes rating to include a Tyre Toxicity Index and Tyre Emissions Rating.

This is designed to align with the California state Department of Toxic Substances Control requirements on tyre chemical composition and the European Union’s Euro 7 wear rate limits and mileage labelling.

The Ratings System

Tyre Toxicity Index

An A to E scale of the chemical composition of the tyre.

Tyre Emissions Rating

A 1-10 scale of tyre wear emissions representing total mass loss per km, when linked with a vehicle.

Why is this needed now?

Six million tonnes of tyre wear particles are released globally each year, and in London alone, 2.6 million vehicles emit around nine thousand tonnes of tyre wear particles annually.   Large particles are carried from the road by rain into rivers, where they may leach toxic chemicals into the environment, whilst smaller particles become airborne and breathed in.

They are small enough to reach into the deep lung.  These particles may contain a range of toxic chemicals including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, benzothiazoles, isoprene, and heavy metals like zinc and lead. Particulate matter from tyre wear is a significant source of ‘microplastics’ in rivers and oceans, and tyre wear in cities could pose up to a four-fold greater risk to the environment than other microplastics.

Get Ahead of the Curve, DriveRightData is the ideal partner for businesses and organisations seeking to get ahead of the curve of tyre chemical pollution mitigation

Armed with this information, retailers can make informed decisions about the tyres they stock, ensuring that they offer products that align with consumers' environmental values.

Retailers can aid consumers to make informed purchasing decisions about how a tyre performs on their vehicle; helping them to choose tyres that minimize their environmental footprint.

With the market now driving the requirement for this legislation, providing detailed analytics on each tyre and vehicle can help you drive purchases and ensure customers can make tyre purchase decisions based on their environmental commitments.
