DriveRightData partners with CDK Global to help automotive retailers boost revenue and increase consumer satisfaction through enhanced wheel customization search options

APIs and integrations through the Fortellis Automotive Exchange Platform power optimized searches for customers on dealership websites and provide additional revenue stream for automotive retailers

28. August 2020

DriveRightData Wheel Testing Center receives SFI Accreditation

12. December 2019

Varying greatly in appearance between each manufacturer, the racing wheel is one of the most diverse components on a race car. Whilst aesthetically each design can offer a unique presentation, key components of strength and durability are the key to success when it comes to the rolling stock on many of today’s fastest drag and stock cars.  Investing in wheel testing to SFI specifications can give you the data and tools required to showcase your products performance and earn the trust of both new and existing race clients. DriveRightData’s recently SFI approved Wheel Testing facility in Fullerton, CA performs precisely controlled and repeatable wheel testing to meet your exact specifications.  By using our wheel testing services you can fully understand the potential of the wheel, forecast wheel performance and understand product life expectancy.

The facility is completely independent, being able to test tires, wheels and related automotive components and has this week gained approval by SFI; being recognized as a testing source to test drag and race wheels to meet SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI) specifications.  SFI is established as the leader in performance standards and safety and their standards apply to:

•    Drag Race Drive Wheels
•    Stock Car Steel Wheels
•    Heavy Duty Stock Car Steel Wheels

SFI is a US non-profit organization established to issue and administer standards for specialty/performance automotive and racing equipment.  The organization has a formal relationship with more than 200 race sanctioning bodies, providing an SFI standard compliance label for use on race-related products.
DriveRightData’s Wheel Testing Center offers a number of standard and custom test options and recreates ‘real-world’ testing environments that replicate field conditions and SFI standards must be met in order for products to be used in sanctioned race events. To ensure the manufactured product complies with approved SFI specs, our laboratory locates weaknesses commonly found in race wheels utilizing our Dynamic Radial Fatigue Test, Dynamic Cornering Test and 13 Degree Impact Test.

"Our Road Hazard Impact Test Machine simulates the wheel impact often received in racing, testing wheels for weakness after impact," said Clare Hetherington, Marketing Manager for DriveRightData Wheel Testing Centre, "The Dynamic Cornering Fatigue Machine tests the mounting face and support features where the rear wheels bolt to the hub." “We are able to offer race teams and wheel manufacturers independent validation and testing for vehicles reaching speeds in excess of 320 mph and that entire load from the motor has to go through the wheel.  By ensuring that wheel and tires are compliant, we can help make racing as exciting but as safe as possible and have evolved our testing facilities to deal with faster, more powerful cars.

DriveRightData operates globally as one of the newest but fastest growing independent testing facilities for tires, wheels and related automotive components.  Through its global divisions, DriveRightData is the market leading supplier of automotive data, with a database of over 150,000 vehicles.  Through web-based applications, API or a wide variety of file-formats, DriveRightData matches the vehicle make, model and chassis to OE and optional tire and wheel fitment data, with upstep sizing and information on maximum and minimum offset and applicable tire sizes. Data includes speed and load index, tire pressures, PCD, center bore diameter, nut hex as well as nut and bolt combinations.

Wheel testing specifications also cover a wide variety of industry standard tests including SAE J328, SAE J175, SAE J2530, SAE J1204 ISO 3006, ISO 3894 and ISO 7141 as well as real-world and on-road tests such as torque retention studies.
