DriveRightData opens US wheel testing facility

29. September 2016

DriveRightData, the wheel and tyre data provider, has established a new testing facility based in Fullerton, Los Angeles, which opened in July. According to DriveRight, the majority of the world’s wheel production is shipped via LA, meaning the establishment of a testing facility close to the port is an “ideal location”.

DriveRight reports that the initiative has been driven by demand from the wheel industry seeking an independent test facility. DriveRightData has over decade of experience in providing vehicle fitment data to manufacturers, distributors and resellers and has a built a successful consultancy service providing behind-the-spoke calliper clearance reports. Calliper reports provided a CAD drawing of the actual profile and overlaid suitable fitments for vehicles from the company’s database of over 100,000 vehicle fitments.

“Effectively we have become a “one-stop” outlet for technical reports for the wheel industry”, said Jack Karamian, DriveRightData’s vice president sales, North America. “The new testing facility includes the latest in wheel testing equipment enabling us to provide confidential reports on the integrity of wheels via lateral impact, dynamic cornering fatigue and radial fatigue tests.”

Manufacturers are able to send product to an independent testing facility and not only get a report on the wheel performance, but more by linking to the database to provide a list of vehicles the wheel will fit and to highlight any issues that may arise with fitment.

DriveRightData Testing Centre is capable of testing wheels from 12 to 26 inch diameter and will test to SAE and ISO regulation standards. The Testing Centre opened in July and reports a steady influx of enquiry and workflow and is expected to recruit further testing engineers in the immediate future to facilitate testing.

DriveRightData opens Brazil office

21. July 2016

DriveRightData has established a new sales office in South America as part of the firm’s global expansion plan. This year, the company embarked on a global expansion plan that has seen headquarters established in Los Angeles and South Korea. Last year the company established a base at Mira Technology Park in Nuneaton in Warwickshire, United Kingdom.

The latest development will include a new sales office in Brazil with Anthony Seadon heading operations. Seadon’s background in global sales and business development in the respective fields of technology and commerce are said to be “well aligned” with DriveRightData’s e-commerce focus.

Company CMO Sacha Hold said: “Anthony’s experience in management, new market entry, sales and distribution and strategic planning are the ideal attributes to oversee our company gaining a foothold in South America. His knowledge and experience in creating business alliances and partnerships in Brazil, US, and Latin America will prove invaluable in this region as we continue on our path of global expansion”.

Anthony Seadon has held managing director roles since 1996, and currently heads SEADCO International Sales & Business Development and sits on the board of Information Technology and Services providers GRX Global Rewards Exchange.

DriveRightData has had South America in its sights for some time now. Interest in the extensive suite of API’s available for website integration are expected to be in demand as the establishment in Brazil gains momentum.

“Brazil provides a great opportunity for DriveRightData and vice versa. The country has approximately 40 million circulating automobiles consuming 38 million tyres per year. The use of tyre fitment information by the manufacturers, authorised tire dealers, hypermarkets, car dealers and e-commerce sites are limited in information provided. DriveRightData can supply organised updated wheel and tyre fitment data to suit each manufacturer, distributor, retailer, re seller and end consumer needs. Both the business and the client gain access to continually updated and accurate data”, Anthony Seadon commented.

DriveRight Data’s “brand new” logo

17. May 2016

As DriveRight embarked on its fitment data business back in 2001, the DriveRight logo gained recognition in the wheel and tyre industry. 15 years on, the company has decided it needs “a small brand adjustment” to more accurately reflect what we the firm does – to tell a bit more of the story, so to speak.

As of 2016 DriveRight is offering quite a lot more than the purely wheel and tyre fitment data that was at the centre of the early products. This includes: vehicle data matched to several international standards including TecDoc, ACES and others; vehicle information for licence plate look-ups for a wide range of countries; comprehensive vehicle parc reports matched to OE tyre and wheel information’; and TPMS information matched to the vehicle database available via a web-based application – to name just four features.

Hence the company is now known as DriveRightData and during May the company is changing its branding and communication to reflect this. According to a company newsletter explaining the change, “it’s a subtle change for a huge leap forward”.

DriveRight opens South Korea office

31. March 2016

DriveRight Data has appointed Ji Hyun Kim as vice president – sales of the Asia Pacific region for a newly opened office in Seoul, South Korea.

Korea has become the fifth largest in the global automotive industry measured by local production and export volume respectively and the latest appointment supports an important region in our company’s global support network.

According to the company, Ji Hyun has worked in the automotive Industry for 17 years, with extensive experience from supply chain to distribution chain specialising in marketing, sales and business development. He has worked for some of Korea’s largest vehicle manufacturers in B2B and consultancy roles.

TyreSafe and DriveRight Provide UK Drivers with a Tool for Identifying the Correct Tyre Pressure

19. May 2015

  •     New co-operation is designed to increase tyre safety
  •     TyreSafe is a leading tyre safety organisation in the UK
  •     DriveRight has been a member of TyreSafe since 2012

DriveRight, leading provider of international wheel and tyre data, and TyreSafe, one of the UK’s leading tyre safety organisations, have agreed on a co-operation aimed at increasing tyre safety in the UK.

As part of the agreement, DriveRight and TyreSafe will provide UK vehicle owners with an online tool on the TyreSafe website where they can enter the model and make of their car and receive information for all related tyre sizes for the respective vehicle. After a tyre size is chosen by the users they will get the recommended tyre pressure for that size, so drivers can easily check whether their tyre pressure is correct. Tyre pressure that is too high or too low is one of the biggest safety risks for cars.

TyreSafe was established in 2006 and has since been dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers associated with defective or illegal tyres. DriveRight has been a member of TyreSafe since 2012 and participated in several of TyreSafe’s tyre safety awareness campaigns.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, welcomes the initiative: “DriveRight has been a member of TyreSafe since 2012, but has supported our campaigns for a number of years before that. The new tool is a great piece of practical help for drivers that will not only simplify their lives but also keep them and their tyres safe. Without DriveRight’s data and support this tool could not exist.”

“All of us in the automotive industry share a responsibility to increase vehicle and road safety wherever we can”, adds DriveRight’s Chief Marketing Officer Sacha Hold. “TyreSafe is doing a very important job by highlighting the importance of tyre safety for overall vehicle safety, an aspect that is not often talked about. Applying the right tyre pressure is an easy way to increase your car’s safety significantly. With the new tool, we help car owners to do this, hopefully making the roads a little bit safer as a result.”

The tool is currently being developed and will be available at http://www.tyresafe.org in a few weeks’ time.
